Country star Kenny Rogers lists his six-bedroom, approximately 9,000-square-foot mansion in Atlanta for $7.95M

Country star Kenny Rogers has placed his six-bedroom, Italian-style mansion in Atlanta on the market — furnished — for $7,950,000, and intends to live full-time in a house that is under construction on his 150-acre ranch in Nicholson, Georgia, near Athens.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution’s Julie B. Hairston broke the story on Thursday of the peripatetic (but, of course, always-likable) Rogers’ listing on Thursday of the house, which is at 10 Valley Road NW in Atlanta’s Buckhead area. The Wall Street Journal’s ‘Private Properties’ on Friday also wrote about the house, although their item (which looked to us like it was agent-fed or public relations person-fed) obviously was scooped by the Journal-Constitution the day before.

Built in 1997, Rogers’ two-story, approximately 9,000-square-foot house has six and a half baths, a dining room that seats at least 12, an elevator, a two-car garage, and a pool, according to listing information. The house also has an African-themed guest room upstairs, the Journal-Constitution reported. And the house sits on an approximately 1.5-are corner lot, the Journal reported. Rogers bought the house in 2006 for a reported $2.8 million, and set out on a massive, $3 million restoration of the house, the Journal reported (we weren’t able to find the purchase deed ourselves in public records–we did find two mortgages, but no purchase deed).

“Every wall, every ceiling, every floor is different” since buying the house, Rogers told the Journal-Constitution. “I touched every inch of this house.”

Rogers, 69, told the Wall Street Journal that the house that he is trying to sell is the 10th house that he has bought, fixed up and put back on the market.

“It’s a hobby with me,” he told the Journal. “Once I get finished, owning it doesn’t mean anything to me.”

Whenever we think of Kenny Rogers, we think of his 1982 movie “Six Pack” (in which he played a racecar driver) and the evocative Rogers song “Love Will Turn You Around.” Check out the opening credits of the film — complete with images of Rogers prior to his recent facelifts!
